WiG 2010 Augusta, MI, Oct. 21-24, 2010 Workshops: The Changing Job Market

This session will be a series of concurrent workshops that address the changing job market in academe. Academic institutions are increasingly moving towards employing faculty on a part-time or full-time non-tenure-track basis. Each year sees the creation of more dual- and multi-language positions. And tenure-track jobs become harder and harder to find (let alone secure). DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES & LITERATURES

The Department of Languages and Literatures of Acadia University (German and Spanish sections) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position (Position # 10601) at the Lecturer or Assistant Professor rank (depending on qualifications) effective July 1, 2010. This is a cross-appointment in German and Spanish.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or be about to complete a Ph. D. in a relevant area. The successful candidate will be able to teach courses in Peninsular or Latin American literature and culture and language courses at all levels in the Spanish unit. He or she must also be qualified to teach courses in German language at all levels; the ability to teach courses in German literature and culture will be considered an asset. The Department is seeking candidates who are fluent in Spanish, German and English. Candidates are asked to describe their experience with the use of digital technology to enhance language learning. They must provide evidence of a strong teaching record and a promising program of research in their area of expertise.
