Title: Lernerautonomie: Karriere und Sloganisierung des Autonomiebegriffs

Description: Autonomie gehört zu besonders beliebten und verbreiteten Modebegriffen in der gegenwärtigen didaktischen Diskussion. Diese Popularität jedoch hat ihre Schattenseiten: Autonomie ist zum Slogan geworden, der oft mehr verklärt als erklärt. Diese Studie zeichnet die Karriere des Autonomiebegriffs und seine zunehmende Sloganisierung in der Fremdsprachenforschung nach. Sie umfasst begriffliche Aufräumarbeiten: Welche Auffassungen von Lernerautonomie gibt es und welche Implikationen haben diese für das Fremdsprachenlernen und -lehren? eine Spurensuche außerhalb der Fremdsprachenforschung: Was bedeutet Autonomie? Die Beschäftigung mit der schillernden Kulturgeschichte des neuzeitlichen (westlichen) Ideals von personaler Autonomie ermöglicht neue Impulse auch für die Fremdsprachenforschung zu setzen. die Errichtung didaktischer Baustellen: Wie könnten nicht-triviale und nicht-sloganisierte Autonomiebegriffe aussehen? Was könnten sie im Rahmen des Fremdsprachenlernens und -lehrens bedeuten?

The Interacting with Print Research Group seeks applications for a postdoctoral fellowship starting 1 August 2009 for one year, with the possibility of reappointment for a further year. The research group is a joint initiative of McGill University and the Université de Montréal, which brings together scholars with an interest in print cultures of the period 1700-1900. The postdoctoral fellow will conduct research in his/her field, participate in the activities of the group, and contribute to their administration. Opportunities for teaching may arise, which will be paid in addition to the fellowship stipend of CAD38,000 pa. The successful candidate will have completed a doctorate in a relevant discipline by July 2009. This position is subject to receipt of additional funding from FQRSC, which will be confirmed in Spring 2009. The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at the University of Winnipeg invites applications for a twelve-month contract position in the area of German Studies. The candidate will be asked to teach four courses in each term (Fall and Winter), including German language courses at all levels and preferably also German-to-English translation and an introduction to German literature. S/he will also act as Coordinator of the German Studies Program. Although a PhD. is preferred, applicants should hold at least an M.A. or equivalent. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2009, and is subject to budgetary approval. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Women’s Creativity around 1800

Friday, May 22, 2009, Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

One-day Workshop preceding the Annual Meeting of the
Canadian Association of University Teachers of German (CAUTG)
at Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, 23-26 May 2009.

You are invited to submit proposals for 20-minute papers in English or German to be given at a one-day thematic workshop on all aspects of women’s creativity in the period around 1800. Foci of interest may include but are not limited to women’s literary productions in the context of contemporary (1750-1830) aesthetics, philosophy, and anthropology; innovative aspects of women’s contributions to theatre and visual arts; women’s self-definitions as writers and artists; gender in genre and media studies; and gender aspects of cultural networking and communication. The workshop is meant to encourage cultural-historical approaches to gender issues in the field of German Studies. A maximum of eight contributions will be selected.

Please email your proposal as an attachment (Word document or .rtf file, max. 600 words) no later than 12 January 2009. Please include your university affiliation and contact information in the e-mail to which you attach your proposal. Decisions will be announced by the end of January.

Although the workshop will take place outside the framework of the CAUTG Annual Meeting, participants are invited and encouraged to attend both events. Details on CAUTG membership and the Annual Meeting and may be found at www.cautg.org.
