On February 7 2008, “Forum Deutsch”, published by the Canadian Association of German Language Schools, the Canadian Association of Teachers of German, and the Goethe-Institut, made the virtual leap and is now only available online. Take a look at the beautiful new website at www.forumdeutsch.ca .

This was sent to the list a little while ago. Just in case you didn’t see it:

Spiegel has announced that they will have a free full-text archive available this spring, but Focus has just put up all issues from 1993 to December 2007. The most current issues will be excluded, but otherwise there’s free access to everything.

Narratology is largely ignored in North-American German Studies. But for those interested, here is a link to Project Narrative

“Project Narrative aims to promote state-of-the art research and teaching in the field of narrative studies. Drawing on ideas from multiple disciplines, the Project focuses on narrative in all of its guises, from everyday storytelling in face-to-face interaction, to oral history and autobiography, to films, graphic novels, and narratives associated with digital environments, to the multitude of stories found in the world’s narrative literature.”

In Germany, the Universität Hamburg hosts the The Interdisciplinary Center for Narratology (ICN)

“The ICN is an interdisciplinary body concerned with narrative phenomena, in both factual as well as fictional contexts, as they present themselves in various media. These include texts, images, films, and various kinds of cultural practices.”
